Thailand Launches THIM App for Digital Arrival Cards and Future Immigration Services

Thailand’s Immigration Bureau officially launched the THIM (Thai Immigration Application) on September 25, 2026, positioning it as a single digital gateway for foreign visitors before arrival and during their stay.

For travelers arriving in Thailand now, the practical change is that THIM provides an additional official route for submitting the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC). The TDAC remains available through the Immigration Bureau’s existing website, and the bureau says the app is intended to connect travelers with further services over time.

TDAC remains the key pre-arrival requirement

All non-Thai nationals entering Thailand by air, land or sea must submit a TDAC before arrival. The Immigration Bureau says it should be completed within three days of the planned arrival date, including the day of arrival. Each entry requires a new submission.

Travelers can continue to use the official TDAC website at tdac.immigration.go.th. THIM is not a replacement for the TDAC requirement; it is another official channel through which the arrival card can be accessed and submitted.

The app is available through the App Store, Google Play and Huawei AppGallery. According to the Immigration Bureau, it has been downloadable since August 1, 2026 and had recorded more than 600,000 downloads by the time of the formal launch.

More services are planned, but not yet available in THIM

The Immigration Bureau says it plans to add queue booking, certificates of stay, visa extensions, 90-day reporting and Visa on Arrival services at authorised immigration checkpoints. No rollout dates were announced for those functions, and the bureau describes them as future development rather than services already available through the app.

That distinction is important for long-stay visitors. THIM does not currently change visa eligibility, approved length of stay, extension rules or 90-day reporting obligations. Foreign nationals who stay in Thailand for more than 90 days still need to meet the existing reporting requirement. The bureau’s current 90-day reporting service remains available through its established online system, subject to its conditions.

Likewise, anyone approaching the expiry date on a visa or permission-to-stay stamp should continue to follow the applicable Immigration Bureau procedure and allow sufficient time. Do not rely on a future THIM feature until the bureau confirms that it is live and specifies who can use it.

Travel planning: use official channels only

THIM also includes an Explore Thailand section with partner offers and coupons, according to the Immigration Bureau. Those offers are separate from immigration permission and are subject to each partner’s terms.

For entry paperwork, use only the official TDAC portal or the THIM app published by the Royal Thai Police. Check the final details on your submitted arrival card before travel, keep the QR code accessible on your phone, and use the Immigration Bureau’s official guidance if a flight, address or other arrival information changes.

The launch is a notable step toward a more centralised immigration platform, particularly for repeat visitors and long-stay residents. For the moment, however, the immediate traveler-facing benefit is an additional official way to complete the mandatory digital arrival card—not a new online route for visa extensions or 90-day reports.
