Air India Restores Daily Nonstop Delhi–Toronto Flights From August 1

July 24, 2026

Air India plans to restore daily flights between Delhi and Toronto from August 1, 2026, while removing the en-route fuel stop in Vienna on the Delhi-to-Canada service.

The airline says its new Boeing 787-9 aircraft will allow flight AI187 to operate nonstop from Delhi to Toronto Pearson International Airport. The change is expected to cut the westbound journey from about 20 hours, including the fuel stop, to around 17 hours. Air India notes that removing the stop remains subject to available airspace.

The eastbound Toronto-to-Delhi flight, AI188, already operates nonstop and has a scheduled flying time of up to 16 hours. Under the timetable published by Air India, AI187 is scheduled to leave Delhi at 1:45am and arrive in Toronto at 9:30am local time; AI188 is scheduled to depart Toronto at 12:30pm and arrive in Delhi at 2:05pm the following day, local time.

Daily service returns

From August 1, Air India intends to run the route seven times a week, up from five weekly flights during June and July. The airline said it had temporarily reduced the frequency amid higher fuel prices and wider geopolitical developments affecting flight operations.

For visitors and people travelling between Canada and northern India, the restored daily schedule may provide more flexibility for onward connections through Delhi. The nonstop westbound service also removes the Vienna stop from itineraries booked on the upgraded flight, although passengers should check their booking and the live schedule before travelling, as aircraft assignments and operational routing can change.

New cabins on the Canada route

Air India will use a three-class Boeing 787-9 configured with 30 Business Class suites, 28 Premium Economy seats and 238 Economy seats. Premium Economy will be available on the Delhi–Toronto route for the first time, according to the airline.

The carrier says the aircraft will also offer updated in-flight entertainment, Bluetooth audio connectivity, USB and AC power, and new cabin interiors. Flights are available through Air India, its app, contact centre and travel agents.
