Which train to take
For a day trip, SE7 (06:00 to 08:16) and SE5 (08:00 to 10:16) get you there in the morning. SE9 leaves at 13:00 and arrives at 15:17.[1] SE3 leaves at 19:20 and arrives at 21:36, and SE1 leaves at 21:45 and arrives at 00:03, so both suit an evening arrival only if your accommodation allows a late check-in.[1]
On the date checked in October 2026 the local timetable also listed SE31 (15:10 to 17:49), SE19 (19:45 to 21:57) and SE17 (20:25 to 22:36). Check the timetable search for your date before you count on them.[2]
Going back to Hanoi, four of the five North-South trains stop at Ninh Binh: SE8 at 13:59, SE6 at 16:55, SE4 at 02:14 and SE2 at 03:24, arriving in Hanoi at 16:20, 19:14, 04:36 and 05:42.[1] SE10 does not stop at Ninh Binh. For a same-day return, SE8 or SE6 are the options.[1]
