Phnom Penh to Kep by Bus
Giant Ibis runs a bus on this route for 167 km, taking 4 hours through Kandal, Kampong Speu, Takeo and Kampot. It leaves from the Giant Ibis terminal on Street 106 (Night Market), arrives at Ponleu Chne Trachak Chet Kep Ville in Kep Town and includes a 20 kg baggage allowance.[1]
Booking platforms list buses and minibuses from other companies at about $10 to $13, with journey times of 3 hours to 4 hours 10 minutes (October 2026).[2] Vans are listed at about $14 to $16 and 3 hours 30 minutes to 3 hours 45 minutes.[2] Luggage space in minibuses can be tight, so a backpack or medium suitcase works best.
Phnom Penh to Kep by Train
Royal Railway's Southern line serves Kep.[3] On the dates we checked, the train left Phnom Penh station at 07:00 and reached Kep station at 10:40, a journey of 3 hours 40 minutes. Normal class cost $9 and First Class $17. The return train left Kep at 16:35.[4]
