How to Get from Wando to Jeju

Wando, on the south coast of South Jeolla Province, is one of the mainland ports with a car ferry to Jeju Island. Hanil Express runs the route with two large ferries, the Gold Stella and the Silver Cloud, which cover the 104 km crossing in about 2 hours 40 minutes.^[1] Both ships carry foot passengers, cars, motorcycles and bicycles.^[1]

Wando to Jeju by Ferry

Ferries leave from Pier 3 of the Wando passenger terminal (339 Jangbogo-daero, Wando-eup). Return sailings leave from the Jeju International Passenger Terminal at 191 Imhang-ro in Jeju City.^[2]

From Wando, the Gold Stella sails at 02:30 and 15:00 and the Silver Cloud at 09:20. The Gold Stella does not sail from Wando on Saturday at 15:00 or on Sunday at 02:30, and the Silver Cloud does not sail from Wando on Sundays.^[1] Sailing times can change without notice and with the weather, so check the operator's schedule for your date.^[3]

Fares are charged per person for open-floor rooms and chair seats and per room for private cabins. The Gold Stella was launched in 2020 and has an on-board restaurant, a Starbucks café and a snack shop.^[5] Economy and Standard are open-floor rooms where passengers sit or lie on the floor. One way, Economy costs 32,250 won on weekdays and 35,500 won on weekends and special sailings, and Standard costs 34,950 won on weekdays and 38,400 won on weekends. Silver Cloud: Third Class, Second Class and cabins

The Silver Cloud was launched in 2018 and has a Starbucks café and a snack shop on board.^[6] One way on weekdays, a Third Class open-floor room costs 29,850 won, a Second Class room 32,350 won and a Second Class chair seat 36,600 won. Tips for Traveling from Wando to Jeju

• Arrive Early: Foot passengers can board from 30 minutes before departure, and boarding closes 10 minutes before departure. Vehicle loading starts 1 hour 30 minutes before departure, and cars should arrive at least 1 hour ahead.^[2]
• ID is Mandatory: You cannot board without ID. Foreign visitors can use a passport or an alien registration card, and photocopies or smartphone screenshots are not accepted.^[2]
• Check the Weather: Whether a ship sails depends on wave height, wind and visibility, and rain alone does not cancel a sailing.
