A scenic-area notice published on 24 September 2026 says that, from 2 October 2026, 2,000 of the 2,475 daily climbing tickets are allocated online and the seven-day advance-sale window remains in effect. It lists two booking periods: 07:20 to 18:00 for the label 预约当天 (booking day) and 20:00 to 23:00 for the label 预约前一天 (day before booking). The notice does not explain how those labels map to your selected visit date, so check the current notice and Beiyue Yunyou mini-program to confirm which window applies before planning around it. The notice allocates 100 online tickets to Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and foreign visitors through Trip.com. The remaining 475 are same-day tickets for specified eligible groups only; the notice explicitly excludes foreign visitors and the free tickets for people aged 60 or older from that offline allocation. Autumn hours and the shuttle
The scenic-area manager's notice published on 7 October 2026 says its autumn schedule takes effect on 8 October: the Hanging Temple is open 08:00 to 17:00, ticket sales run 07:30 to 16:30, and shuttle departures from the visitor center to the temple run 07:30 to 16:30. Treat these as the dated schedule in that notice and recheck for your visit date.
Getting there from Datong
The scenic area's transport guide directs visitors to the Hengshan Visitor Center and says the final leg to the Hanging Temple is by scenic-area shuttle. Its route page lists Datong bus routes 901-1 and 901-2 to the visitor center and links a timetable file labelled August 2026. Allow time for separate legs
Plan the visitor-center transfer and the gallery ticket as separate parts of your day. If you want to add another Datong-area attraction, ask your driver or tour operator for a route-specific transfer plan instead of relying on older distance and duration estimates.
