Gorakhpur to Delhi by Train
Indian Railways runs overnight trains from Gorakhpur Junction to Delhi. The Humsafar Express (12595) leaves Gorakhpur at 20:00 and reaches Anand Vihar Terminal at 08:50 the next morning, and train 15057 leaves Gorakhpur at 20:55 and arrives at Anand Vihar Terminal at 11:00.[1] In the other direction, train 12596 leaves Anand Vihar Terminal at 20:00 and arrives in Gorakhpur at 07:50.[1] Note that these trains end at Anand Vihar Terminal in east Delhi, not at New Delhi station.
Tickets can be reserved up to 60 days before the date of journey,[2] so book early for popular dates.
Choosing a Class
On an overnight train the usual choices are AC First Class (1A), AC 2-Tier (2A), AC 3-Tier (3A) and its economy version (3E), and Sleeper (SL). The AC classes are air-conditioned; Sleeper class is not, which means dust and noise in summer and cold nights in winter, so bring a travel sheet or a light blanket.
