Anand Vihar ISBT (Swami Vivekanand ISBT) Delhi: travel guide

Last updated: October 21, 2026
Transport hub 🇮🇳 India Delhi

Anand Vihar ISBT, officially Swami Vivekanand Inter State Bus Terminal, is the bus terminal in east Delhi for buses to Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. Buses to Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Jaipur leave from Kashmere Gate ISBT instead.

It is also one of Delhi's best-connected transport hubs. A metro station serving two lines, Anand Vihar Terminal railway station, the Namo Bharat regional rail station and a second ISBT just across the border at Kaushambi in Uttar Pradesh all sit around it.[1]

Location and how to get there

The terminal is in Anand Vihar, East Delhi, close to the Uttar Pradesh border.

  • Metro: The station is called Anand Vihar I.S.B.T and is an interchange between the Blue Line and the Pink Line.[2] Gate 2 is in front of the ISBT, gate 1 (Pink Line) leads towards the ISBT and gate 3 comes out between the ISBT and the railway station.[2] The station is open from 05:53 to 00:10.[2]
  • Railway: Anand Vihar Terminal railway station is next to the bus terminal, so changing from train to bus takes a short walk.[1]
  • Namo Bharat: The Anand Vihar station on this 82 km Delhi-Meerut line is built beside the metro station, the railway station and the two ISBTs.[1] The trains are designed for 180 km/h.[3] Sahibabad is the next stop towards Meerut, about five minutes away.[4] The station has entrances towards Chaudhary Charan Singh Marg and towards the railway station.[1]

Kaushambi bus terminal across the border is a separate terminal. A ticket marked "Kaushambi" does not leave from Delhi's Anand Vihar ISBT.[1]

Operators and destinations

Uttarakhand Transport Corporation (UTC) lists services between Delhi Anand Vihar and Haldwani, Almora, Ramnagar, Dehradun ISBT, Shahjahanpur and Dharchula.[5] Buses to Almora and Bageshwar also leave from Anand Vihar.[6] Haldwani is the gateway to Nainital.

Tickets and facilities

For Uttarakhand, book on the UTC StarBus site up to one month before the journey. One e-ticket covers up to six seats.[7] Check the boarding point on any ticket you buy elsewhere, because "Anand Vihar" and "Kaushambi" are different bus stations.[1]

The metro station has token vending machines on both the railway side and the ISBT side, plus toilets along the corridor towards the railway station.[2]

Tips

  • Use the metro rather than a taxi at peak times. Gate 2 puts you right in front of the ISBT.
  • Check whether your bus leaves from Anand Vihar ISBT in Delhi or from Kaushambi in Uttar Pradesh.
  • Know which ISBT you need. Buses to Himachal, Punjab and Chandigarh leave from Kashmere Gate.
