From Fukuoka you can reach Busan by air or on the New Camellia ferry from Hakata Port. The fast Beetle jet ferry no longer sails: JR Kyushu decided in December 2024 to withdraw from the ship business after the Queen Beetle could not be returned to safe service.[1]
Fukuoka to Busan by Flight
Korean Air and Air Busan both list Busan among their routes from Fukuoka Airport.[2][3] Flights leave from the international terminal, a separate building from the domestic terminal, and the airport runs an inter-terminal shuttle between them.[2] The subway from the domestic terminal reaches Hakata Station in about 6 minutes.[4] Flights land at Gimhae International Airport (PUS) in Busan. Fukuoka to Busan by Ferry
Camellia Line's New Camellia sails from the Hakata Port International Terminal.[5] The operator's schedule lists a departure from Hakata at 12:30 and an arrival in Busan at 18:30, about 6 hours, with 1 sailing a day in each direction apart from irregular suspensions. Arrival time can vary with the weather.[6]
Since 1 October 2026 the adult one-way fare starts at ¥15,000 in 2nd class, with first-class rooms from ¥21,000 and suites up to ¥33,000. The round-trip and student discounts have been discontinued.[7] Passengers from Hakata also pay a ¥1,400 fuel surcharge, the ¥3,000 international tourist tax and a ¥500 terminal fee on top of the fare.[7] Reservations open 6 months before the sailing.[7]

The ship has shared 2nd-class rooms with Japanese-style floor space, first-class Western-style and Japanese-style rooms, junior suites and suites.[6]
Check-In
Check-in is at the Camellia Line counter on the ground floor of the terminal and must be completed at least 60 minutes before departure. A passport is all you need to check in, and you then pass customs and exit immigration before boarding.[5]
