Koh Lipe has no airport, so every route to its white-sand beaches ends on a boat. The usual way from Bangkok is to travel south to Hat Yai, continue by road to Pak Bara pier in Satun province, and take a speedboat across to the island.[1]
Step 1: Bangkok to Hat Yai
Thai Airways flies from Suvarnabhumi to Hat Yai, with an economy ceiling fare of 10,049 baht one way.[2] Thai Lion Air flies from Don Mueang.[3] By train, Thaksinarath 31 leaves Krung Thep Aphiwat station at 16:50 and arrives in Hat Yai at 07:05, and Rapid 171 leaves at 15:10 and arrives at 06:30.[4]
Step 2: Pak Bara pier to Koh Lipe
In high season, from 16 October to 31 May, 4 speedboats leave Pak Bara for Koh Lipe each day, at 09:30, 11:30, 11:45 and 13:30. The direct crossing takes 1 hour 30 minutes, and the route that stops at Tarutao and Khai takes 2 hours 30 minutes.[5] From 1 June to 15 October, boats leave at 11:30 and 13:30.
Check in at least 30 minutes before departure. Foreign visitors pay a national park fee of 200 baht per adult at Pak Bara pier on top of the ticket, so keep the receipt.[5]
