Bus terminal 🇻🇳 Vietnam Hanoi

My Dinh Bus Station (Bến xe Mỹ Đình) is Hanoi's main coach terminal for the west, north-west and north. Coaches to Sa Pa and Lao Cai, Ha Giang and Dong Van, Dien Bien, Son La, Hoa Binh and Mai Chau, Cao Bang, Lang Son and Ha Long leave from here.[1] For Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh, Thanh Hoa and the long-distance services to Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City, Giap Bat Bus Station on the south side of the city is the one to check instead.[2]

The station is run by Hanoi Bus Station JSC (Bến xe Hà Nội, HNB). It opened in 2004 when the intercity services of the old Kim Ma station were moved out, sits next to Ring Road 3, and is a class 1 station designed for 500 to 600 departures a day.[1]

Location and how to get there

The address is 20 Pham Hung Road, Tu Liem Ward, in the west of Hanoi. The official station hotline is 1900 1825 (press 1).[1] It is a long way from the Old Quarter, so most visitors arrive by taxi or ride-hailing app.

City buses stop at the station and are the cheap option. These routes start or end at My Dinh:

  • Route 34: My Dinh to Gia Lam bus station. Runs 05:00 to 22:30, fare VND 10,000.[3]
  • Route 09B: My Dinh to Bo Ho (Hoan Kiem Lake area) via Thong Nhat Park. Runs 05:01 to 22:05, fare VND 8,000.[3]
  • Route 16: My Dinh to Nuoc Ngam bus station. Runs 04:50 to 21:20, fare VND 8,000.[3]
  • Route 109: My Dinh to Noi Bai Airport (Terminal 1 bus stop). Runs 05:00 to 21:00, every 20 to 30 minutes, fare VND 8,000 to 12,000.[1][3]
  • Route E01: My Dinh to the Ocean Park urban area, 05:00 to 21:00, fare VND 12,000.[3]

In total 22 city and suburban bus routes serve the station, including services to Son Tay, Hoa Lac, Huong Son and Dong Anh.[1]

Operators and destinations

Coaches run to destinations in 16 provinces by the old boundaries: Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Dien Bien, Hoa Binh, Lai Chau, Son La, Ha Giang, Cao Bang, Bac Kan, Lang Son, Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho, Bac Giang, Quang Ninh and Vinh Phuc. Since the 2025 province mergers many tickets and destination boards show the new names, for example Mai Chau under Phu Tho, Ha Giang and Dong Van under Tuyen Quang, and Sa Pa under Lao Cai.[1]

Other destinations include Sa Pa, Lao Cai, Son La, Moc Chau, Hoa Binh, Mai Chau, Cao Bang, Dong Dang (Lang Son), Ha Long (Bai Chay), Mong Cai, Ha Giang area towns such as Dong Van and Meo Vac, and Yen Bai.[1] GoAsia route pages for these trips:

Tickets and facilities

The station has ticket counters, a waiting hall and a passenger pickup yard.[1] Each departure names the ticket counter and the bay where the coach picks up, for example counter 8 and bay 46 for Than Uyen and bay 13 for the Dien Bien services. Buy at the counter or ring 1900 1825 (press 1) for booking help.[1] Many operators also sell through their own websites and apps.

Some sleeper buses and minivans to Sa Pa and Ha Giang pick up in the Old Quarter instead of at the platforms. If your ticket gives an address in the centre, that is your departure point, not My Dinh.

Tips

  • Check the departure point on your ticket. Hanoi has several coach stations (My Dinh, Giap Bat, Gia Lam, Nuoc Ngam) and operators often use more than one.
  • Allow extra time from the Old Quarter. Traffic on Pham Hung and Cau Giay is heavy in the morning and evening peaks.
  • Arrive well before departure, and earlier around public holidays such as Tet and 2 September, when the station is busy and HNB publishes extra service plans.[1]
  • Night services to Dien Bien and the north-west leave in the evening between about 18:00 and 21:15, so a late arrival at the station is a real risk.[1]
