Jakarta and Batam are on different islands, so most travelers fly. Super Air Jet, Citilink, Lion Air, Batik Air and Pelita Air operate direct flights from Jakarta to Batam.[1] Flights leave from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK) in Tangerang and land at Hang Nadim International Airport (BTH) on Batam.[2]
Jakarta to Batam by Flight
A non-stop flight takes about 1 hour 40 minutes to 1 hour 45 minutes.[1][3] The lowest fare shown on AirAsia's route page was IDR 975,677 (October 2026), and sample fares for 17 and 18 October 2026 ran from about IDR 1,100,000 to IDR 1,400,000.[1] Baggage allowances differ by airline and fare, so check what your ticket includes before you pay.
The flight time does not include the trip to the airport, check-in, baggage claim or the ride from Hang Nadim airport to your hotel in Batam. From central Jakarta the road to Tangerang is often the least predictable part of the day.
Getting to the Airport in Jakarta
Citilink domestic flights use Terminal 1B at Soekarno-Hatta;[4] other airlines can use other terminals, so check your booking. Plan to arrive 2 to 3 hours before departure.[1] The airport train (Commuter Line Basoeta) runs between the airport and Manggarai via Batu Ceper, Duri and Sudirman Baru/BNI City, with services from about 05:00 to 23:37.[5]
Arriving in Batam
Hang Nadim is Batam's airport, and its domestic terminal is open around the clock.[2] Batam Centre, Nagoya, Sekupang and Nongsa are far apart, so check the map before choosing a hotel and decide how you will reach it before you land. Ferries run between Batam Centre and other Batam terminals and Singapore's HarbourFront and Tanah Merah;[6] if you plan to continue by ferry the same day, leave a generous buffer after landing.

Tips for Traveling from Jakarta to Batam
- Plan the Jakarta airport leg around traffic. The airport is in Tangerang, not in central Jakarta.
- Compare baggage rules. The cheapest fares may not include checked baggage.
- Choose your Batam area first. Batam Centre, Nagoya, Sekupang and Nongsa are not the same place.
- Avoid tight onward plans. If you need a ferry or a meeting after landing, allow time for baggage and the transfer.
