Tokyo to Fukuoka by Flight

Fukuoka Airport's domestic flight search lists Tokyo Haneda and Narita among its origins and covers carriers including JAL, ANA, Skymark, Star Flyer and Jetstar.[3] Haneda is the closer of the two Tokyo airports for most of central Tokyo. Fares and flight times differ by airline and date, so check the airline sites for current offers.

Fukuoka Airport

Fukuoka Airport is close to the city: the subway from the domestic terminal reaches Hakata Station in about 6 minutes.[2]

Tokyo to Fukuoka by Shinkansen

Nozomi trains for Hakata leave Tokyo Station several times an hour in the morning, for example at 06:00, 06:15, 06:24 and 06:33.[4] The adult reserved-seat fare on the Nozomi from Tokyo to Hakata is ¥23,610 in the regular season. It falls by ¥400 off-peak and rises by ¥400 at peak and ¥800 at super peak on routes that cross the Tokaido, Sanyo and Kyushu Shinkansen.[5]

In peak periods all seats on Nozomi trains are reserved.[6] Large bags need attention: baggage with total dimensions between 160 and 250 cm requires a reserved seat with an oversized baggage area, which costs no extra. Without that reservation a ¥1,000 baggage fee applies.[7]
