Yokohama to Tokyo by Train
The railway is the obvious choice for the Yokohama to Tokyo route, and the one that locals and visitors use. From Yokohama Station, the JR Tokaido, Yokosuka and Keihin-Tohoku lines reach Tokyo Station in 25 minutes and Shinagawa in 16 minutes.[1] The Keikyu Line also takes 17 minutes to Shinagawa, and from Shibuya the Tokyu Toyoko Line takes 26 minutes and the JR Shonan-Shinjuku Line 24 minutes.[1]
If you arrive on the Shinkansen, note that it stops at Shin-Yokohama, the Shinkansen station nearest to Yokohama, not at Yokohama Station.[2]
Yokohama to Tokyo's Airports by Train
For the airports, the Narita Express (N'EX) runs direct from Yokohama to Narita Airport and also calls at Shinagawa, Tokyo, Shibuya and Shinjuku, with overhead racks and large luggage areas that do not need a reservation.[3] For Haneda, trains take about 30 minutes from Yokohama Station, and Haneda is directly connected to the Keikyu Line.[4]

Tips for Traveling from Yokohama to Tokyo
- Luggage Logic: If you have large suitcases, avoid the morning commuter rush. Space can be very tight on commuter lines.
- Stay To Your Left: On escalators in the Yokohama and Tokyo areas, the standard etiquette is to stand on the left and walk on the right.
