Standing amidst the neon-lit skyscrapers of Kowloon, Macau's historic Portuguese ruins and casino resorts feel close. The two cities are separated by the waters of the Pearl River Delta, and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge now lets you make the trip by road instead of by sea.
Choosing a coach from Kowloon spares you the transfer to a ferry terminal. Cross-boundary coaches run on fixed routes and schedules from stopping points in urban Hong Kong, including Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon Station, Mong Kok, Prince Edward and Kwun Tong, and their main Macau destinations are hotels in Taipa.[1]
Kowloon to Macau by Bus
The cross-boundary coach is the main direct option between Kowloon and Macau. On booking platforms, the Kowloon-Macau coach takes from about 2 hours 20 minutes, and longer with traffic and queues at the border checkpoints, with the slowest listed services at about 4 hours. Departures run roughly every 30 to 60 minutes from 09:35 to 19:05, and booking platforms list one-way tickets at about $19 to $21 (October 2026).[2]

Booking platforms list two types of service: Regular 46 (46-seat coaches), which leave through the day, and a Standard service listed only for morning departures between 09:35 and 11:35.[2] You can book seats for these services on GoAsia.cc.
Shuttle Bus from the Hong Kong Port
If you are already at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Hong Kong Port, the shuttle bus on the Hong Kong/Macao route runs 24 hours, every 5 minutes at peak times and every 15 to 30 minutes overnight. The fare is HK$65 by day (06:00 to 23:59) and HK$70 at night, with half fare for children under 12, senior citizens aged 65 or above and people with disabilities. Tickets are sold at counters and machines in the departure hall and online in advance.[1]
Border Procedures
The route crosses two borders, so you pass immigration control for Hong Kong and for Macau and need your passport at both. Follow the coach operator's instructions about where to re-board after the checkpoints, and keep an eye on your coach number or licence plate, as the immigration halls can be busy.
Kowloon to Macau by Ferry
TurboJET ferries sail between Sheung Wan on Hong Kong Island and Macau in about 60 minutes, so from Kowloon you first need to cross to Hong Kong Island. Since 25 April 2026 the Economy fare on a weekday daytime sailing is HK$194, and passengers are advised to board at least 30 minutes before departure for document checks.[3]

Tips for Traveling from Kowloon to Macau
- Check your entry rules: Macau has its own entry rules. Your passport must be valid for at least 90 days beyond your intended stay, and the permitted visa-free stay depends on your nationality, for example up to 90 days on EU passports and up to 30 days for many other holders of a valid passport.[4]
- Carry your passport: Ferry operators require original travel documents at the ticketing counters, and you need your passport at the border checkpoints in any case.[3]
- Arrival points: Coaches mainly serve hotels in Taipa, so check how far your hotel is from the drop-off before you choose a coach.[1]
- Avoid peak holidays: The route becomes busy during Lunar New Year and the Golden Week holidays. If traveling during these times, book well in advance.
