Mien Dong Bus Station Ho Chi Minh City (Bến xe Miền Đông): new vs old station guide
There are two Mien Dong bus stations in Ho Chi Minh City, and most long-distance coaches no longer use the old one. The new Mien Dong Bus Station (Bến xe Miền Đông mới) at 501 Hoang Huu Nam Street, Long Binh Ward, is the main terminal for coaches to the north, the central coast, Nha Trang, Mui Ne and parts of the Mekong Delta.[1][2] The old Mien Dong station (Bến xe Miền Đông) at 292 Dinh Bo Linh Street in Binh Thanh is still open, but only for a few routes.[2]
The new station opened in phases from 10 October 2020.[2] It sits on the eastern edge of the city and straddles the boundary with Binh Duong: of its more than 16 hectares, 12.3 lie in Ho Chi Minh City and 3.7 in Binh Duong. The main terminal has four floors above ground and two basements.[1]
Location and how to get there
The address is 501 Hoang Huu Nam Street, Long Binh Ward.[1]
- Metro: Ho Chi Minh City Metro Line 1 runs from Ben Thanh Market in the city centre to its last stop, Ben Xe Suoi Tien (Suoi Tien Bus Station), the closest station to the new bus station. For anyone staying in District 1 this is the easiest way to get there.
- Taxi or ride-hailing: usable from anywhere in the city, but the trip is long and slow in rush hour.
Operators and destinations
The company that ran the old station published the relocation timeline:[2]
- 10 October 2020: 29 routes from Quang Tri northwards moved to the new station.[2]
- 11 October 2022: fixed intercity routes to Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, Lam Dong, Dong Nai, Ba Ria Vung Tau, Ben Tre, Can Tho and Ca Mau moved.[2]
- 15 September 2023: routes to Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, Ha Tinh, Binh Dinh and Phu Yen moved.[2]
- 1 August 2024: the Binh Duong route moved, apart from one cooperative still licensed at Bau Bang.[2]
Da Nang Central Bus Station names Mien Dong Moi as its Ho Chi Minh City terminus, about 900 km away.[3] GoAsia route pages for services that use the new station:

The old Mien Dong station
The old station is at 292 Dinh Bo Linh Street, Binh Thanh Ward, and its hotline is 1900 571 292. Fixed intercity routes to Lam Dong, Dong Nai, Gia Lai and Quang Ngai still run from there.[2] The new station took over the Lam Dong routes in 2022, yet some still leave from the old one, so check your ticket: a coach to Da Lat can be listed at either station.

Tickets and facilities
Buy tickets from the operators' counters in the terminal or through their official websites and apps, and do not pay in advance for unusually cheap tickets offered through social media pages. The new terminal has a boarding yard on the ground floor with about 70 pickup spaces, an arrivals area in the basement, a central terminal building, multi-storey parking, a fuel station, a commercial and service area and a repair area. It is designed for roughly 21,000 passengers and 1,200 departures a day, and up to 52,000 passengers and more than 1,800 departures on peak days around Tet and public holidays.[1]
Tips
- Check the station name on the ticket: "Bến xe Miền Đông mới" (new) or "Bến xe Miền Đông" (old, Binh Thanh). Taxi and ride-hailing drivers need the exact one.
- Take the metro to Ben Xe Suoi Tien if you can; it avoids the traffic on Xa Lo Ha Noi highway.
- Allow at least 30 minutes before departure, more around Tet and public holidays.
- Mekong Delta coaches can also leave from other Ho Chi Minh City stations. Always confirm the departure point with the operator.
